JEDDAH: The Bright Star 2018 multinational military drills are continuing at the Mohamed Naguib military base in Alexandria, Egypt. Saudi airborne units and special forces are carrying out training exercises with friendly forces. Seminars and lectures are also being held. The Saudi military’s aim is to increase combat readiness, exchange experiences with other armed forces and refine participants’ military skills. The US-Egyptian Bright Star 2018 military drills include other units from Greece, Britain, Jordan, the UAE, Italy and France. The exercise aims to strengthen military and security cooperation among the participating countries. Exercises included anti-terrorism operations, and fighting techniques on land and sea. Live ammunition was used in some drills.
