Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, sent on Saturday separate cables of condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck the city of Palu on Friday. King Salman and Prince Mohammed offered their warm condolences to Indonesia and wished the wounded a speedy recovery. At least 384 people were killed, many swept away as giant waves crashed onto beaches, when a major earthquake and tsunami hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, authorities said on Saturday. Hundreds of people had gathered for a festival on the beach in Palu on Friday when waves as high as six meters (18 feet) smashed onshore at dusk, sweeping many to their deaths and destroying anything in their path. The tsunami followed a 7.5 magnitude earthquake.
