JEDDAH: Majid Al-Qassabi, Saudi Arabia’s minister of commerce and investment and chairman of the Saudi Intellectual Property Authority (SIPA), chaired the fifth board meeting of the SIPA at the ministry on Thursday. During the meeting, the board members reviewed the work implemented by SIPA since mid-July through its strategy and regional and international contributions, including its participation, for the first time, in the 58th General Assembly of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva. The board members also reviewed SIPA’s participation figures and hailed the great efforts of the Saudi delegation in signing two memorandums of understanding with the US Patent and Trademark Office and the South Korean Intellectual Property Office, in addition to holding bilateral meetings with a group of intellectual property offices from around the world. The board meeting discussed the international cooperation and communication plan launched by SIPA as part of the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020 to develop cooperation and experience exchange with international intellectual property offices. SAIP Executive Chairman Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed Al-Swailem thanked the minister and the members of the board for their continued efforts in supervising SIPA’s work and supporting its staff and activities.
