JEDDAH: Saudi naval forces based in Makkah have successfully carried out the evacuation of an Indian sailor. The 31-year-old sailor was onboard a commercial vessel when he experienced an emergency health situation that required his immediate evacuation to receive medical treatment. The Search and Rescue Coordination Center in Jeddah, which belongs to the Saudi border guards, received a distress call reporting that a crew member of a commercial vessel in international waters was in an emergency condition and needed to be evacuated. The call was immediately responded to by locating the ship’s position and linking it by phone with the relevant authorities concerned with emergency medical services in Jeddah. Following the evacuation process, the commercial vessel resumed course to reach its destination.
