The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) launched Monday a series of projects in the energy, water, education and transportation sectors in al-Mahra governorate. The projects were launched during a visit paid to the province by the program’s representatives, headed by Abdelhadi al-Gahtani, director of SDRPY in Mahra, and Director of Media and Strategic Communications Abdullah bin Kadseh and in the presence of public sector officials and dignitaries. The education sector enjoyed the largest share of the projects, where 192,000 books were printed for elementary schools from the first until the sixth grade. SDRPY also provided 10,000 school bags, 6,000 desks, and 12 30 school buses. The materials will benefit some 26,000 students in 150 schools throughout the governorate. In the energy and water sector, 15 water tanks and 264 KW generators were unveiled. The program also provided a winch with capacity of five tons and a crane with the capacity of 30 tons, as well as an ambulance and a fire truck for the al-Ghayda airport. "The Kingdoms leadership is keen to provide what is needed by the brotherly Yemeni people and will not hesitate to offer humanitarian and developmental support in all sectors," said Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and Supervisor of SDRPY Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber. He stressed that providing the curricula guarantees the continuity of the educational process, adding that Yemenis are smart and ready to learn but lack some potentials, of which the Saudi Program has been working to ensure. “SDRPY has also been working on meeting all the needs in the energy, electricity, health, education, fisheries, agriculture, housing, water, transport and security sectors throughout Yemen.” The programs representatives are currently conducting an on-the-ground inspection of all executed projects in Mahra.
