United Nations special envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths held talks in Riyadh on Tuesday with Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. Hadi expressed his "support for the efforts and work" of Griffiths at the talks in the Saudi capital, the Saba news agency reported. The head of the presidents office Abdullah al-Alimi wrote on Twitter that Hadi remained committed to the Sweden accord and stood ready to open up "all humanitarian access". Griffiths held talks with the president as part of efforts to shore up a truce in the key port Hodeidah. The ceasefire was reached in Sweden in December between the legitimate government and Iran-backed Houthi militias. The deal calls for the Houthi withdrawal from the city and its three ports. The Saudi-led Arab coalition has accused the militias of stalling in implementing the deal and reneging on the Sweden agreement. Griffiths is set to brief the UN Security Council Wednesday on the state of the ceasefire deal, diplomats have said.
