UAE Businessmen Discuss Investment, Trade Opportunities in Syria

UAE investors discussed investment opportunities and commercial cooperation with Syrian businessmen during the UAE- Syrian Private Sector Forum, which kicked off on Sunday. Participants in the forum aimed at boosting cooperation to benefit both countries and achieve their common interests. The forum, which was organized by the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took place soon after reopening the UAE embassy in Damascus end of December. It focused on introducing the investment sectors of common interest and the most important opportunities in the Syrian private sector, including trade, industry, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, logistics, and alternative energy. Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammed al-Rumaithi, Secretary General of the Federation of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce Mohammed Hamshou and his accompanying delegation, a number of businessmen and investors attended the forum. Rumaithi stressed that the UAE business community is interested in investment opportunities in Syrias private sector, pointing to the importance of different trade partnerships in various investment sectors between the business community and the private sector. He noted that the Forum, which brought together a group of UAE and Syrian businessmen and investors, comes in the framework of reviewing the most important opportunities and investment climates, which create business partnerships and new projects. The forum marks an opportunity for investors, private sector and businessmen to hold fruitful meetings, allowing them to become acquainted with the advantages of the business environment, explained Rumaithi. Hamshou, for his part, affirmed that the Syrian private sector delegation’s visit aims at opening new horizons and building trade and investment partnerships with the UAE. He called on the business community and the private sector in the UAE to invest in various economic and trade activities in Syria.
