UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host a preparatory conference to lay ground for the 2019 UN Climate Summit. The conference will be held in Abu Dhabi in June. Guterres made the announcement during a meeting with UAE ministers on the sidelines of the 49th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, currently taking place, at Davos, Switzerland. The officials included Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and the Future Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Gergawi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi and Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence Omar bin Sultan Al-Oulama. The preparatory meeting aims to set an agenda, including recommendations and draft resolutions to be presented to the UN Climate Summit in September, which is expected to witness the highest international participation since the signing of the Paris Agreement in 2015.
