JEDDAH: The Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Al-Ahsa governorate has received the International Certificate of Accreditation of the Artificial Cardiac Care Program by the Joint International Commission for Accreditation of Health Establishments in the US. The center’s director, Dr. Khalid Al-Khamis, praised the Saudi government’s support for the health sector. The center’s Artificial Heart Transplantation Program began in 2017, and cooperates with international centers in the same specialty. It is the only center in the Middle East listed in the European Society of Cardiology database. In order to boost the health care sector and improve the performance of hospitals in Saudi Arabia, the Health Ministry is effectively pursuing the implementation of Adaa standards. Adaa, the National Center for Performance Measurement, is tasked with performance measurement of government entities. It involves providing tools, frameworks and educational support, which enables better measurement and development.
