Iraqi President Barham Salih received the Saudi minister of commerce and investment, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qassabi, who conveyed a greeting from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the new Iraqi government.  Al-Qassabi highlighted the Saudi leadership’s concern to promote brotherly ties between the two peoples, and strengthen relations between the two countries, especially in the economic and commercial fields.  He stressed the importance of Saudi companies in supporting development projects in Iraq, adding that the Saudi-Iraqi Al-Jadidah Arar border crossing will reopen before the end of this year to boost trade between the two countries. The government delegation to Iraq included Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Gulf Affairs Thamer Al-Sabhan; Governor of Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization Saad bin Othman Al-Qassabi; and Deputy Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Abdul Aziz Al-Abdul Karim. Al-Qassabi and his delegation met with Iraqi officials in the presence of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador Abdul Aziz bin Khalid Al-Shammari.  The meetings explored ways to develop trade activity, discussed investment opportunities, and prepared for the meeting of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council to be held in Iraq in April.
