The United States will not grant any more waivers to any countries that would allow them to buy Iranian oil without facing US sanctions, a senior diplomat said on Wednesday. Brian Hook, Iran Special Envoy, also said in a briefing that the global oil market had already factored in Iranian oil exports falling to zero under the Trump administrations economic pressure campaign against Tehran. Any Iranian attack against the United States or allies will be met with force, he warned. Washington does not want war with Iran but will continue putting maximum pressure on it until it changes its behavior, Hook told reporters in a phone call. He mentioned Irans foreign policy as an area that could be changed, without citing specifics, and said Irans reduction of some commitments under its 2015 nuclear deal was against international norms. Iran said on Wednesday it had started scaling-back some commitments under the nuclear pact and threatened to do more if world powers did not protect it from US sanctions, a year after Washington pulled out of the deal.
