The Saudi-led Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen revealed on Friday that some weapons in the possession of the Iran-backed Houthi militias have been smuggled by the Hezbollah party from southern Lebanon. Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki added that some of the weapons even carry the image of Syrian regime leader Bashar Assad. Addressing a press conference in Makkah, he said that the militias were an “Iranian arm that is threatening Yemen and its neighbors.” Moreover, he stated that the Houthis have obtained rockets from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, as well as weapons that were previously not in the arsenal of the Yemeni army. Iran has also supplied the Houthis with drones, the same ones that are in Hezbollah’s possession, he remarked. The ballistic missiles sent to the Houthis are manufactured in Revolutionary Guards factories, sent to Yemen’s Hodeidah port and then shipped in parts to Sanaa, Maliki continued. The Iranians are even training the Houthis on how to plant naval mines.
