Hundreds of students from the French mission schools in Rabat took part with their families in a cultural event to support children with Trisomy. The event was organized by the Association Marocaine De Soutien ET DAide Aux Personnes Trisomiques (AMSAT), in partnership with many schools and educational institutions. Sports, entertainment and arts activities that allowed the children to interact with their Trisomic peers and enhance their integration featured at the event. Najib Amor, head of AMSAT, said the association, which was founded 31 years ago, aims at promoting the social integration of the affected children and their families by providing them with the required medical support and social care. "The association is currently responsible for over 300 children and their families, and brings together the efforts of many experts and activists willing to work voluntarily to help their community." Sofia al-Zeri, president of the parent council in the French mission schools, said the associations contribution in this event aims at "highlighting the problems many parents face in our community, including raising a child with disability." She said the participating mothers prepared food and deserts to sell at the event. The proceeds were dedicated to support AMSAT in its efforts to help people with Trisomy. A mother, who accompanied her child to the event, applauded the event, telling Asharq Al-Awsat: "The association has handled my sons different needs and has accompanied him throughout his medical journey.” "AMSAT has helped my son from the day he was born and taught me how to deal with him and raise him, especially after he was diagnosed with diabetes," she said, noting that her son "lives normally, goes to school by himself and does his homework like his peers."
