The Saudi cabinet reiterated on Tuesday its condemnation of the terrorist practices committed by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen, most notably its rocket attack against the arrivals hall at Abha Airport last week. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Jeddah. The ministers renewed the Kingdom’s denouncement of all hostile and terrorist attacks that threaten freedom of navigation and oil shipping routes, including the targeting of two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman last week. They called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in taking the necessary firm measures to secure navigation and marine shipping routes. The cabinet also hailed the interview by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to Asharq Al-Awsat on Sunday. It said that his remarks underscored Saudi Arabia’s constant and clear stance on regional developments, its strategic relations and national interests. It also lauded the Kingdom’s hosting of three Arab, Islamic and Gulf summits in the holy city of Makkah in late May. King Salman expressed his gratitude to all of the dignitaries who attended the summits, saying their efforts helped make them a success. The gatherers had voiced their absolute support for all the measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its national security and protect oil supplies. They also hailed its ongoing efforts in combating extremism and terrorism. They also underlined King Salman’s call to hold frequent summits to unite ranks against challenges threatening the region.
