Dr. Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani has been justice minister and president of the Supreme Judicial Council since December 2015. He is also a member of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. Al-Samaani attained his bachelor’s degree in Shariah from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, his master’s in the same field, and his Ph.D. in comparative law from the university’s Higher Judicial Institute. He joined the judiciary at the Board of Grievances, and served as a judge in the administrative, penal and commercial judiciary. He also headed a number of judicial divisions at the board. Al-Samaani was appointed as a legal adviser to the Crown Prince’s Court in 2011, and participated in several workshops related to the judicial and statutory field, including the jurisdiction of the Board of Grievances courts. He congratulated King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the success of this year’s Hajj season. Al-Samaani expressed his appreciation of the Saudi government’s efforts to serve pilgrims and enable them to perform their rituals easily and comfortably. He said the service of the Two Holy Mosques is most important to the Saudi leadership and people. “The keenness, attention and care of the king and the crown prince regarding the Two Holy Mosques was demonstrated in providing the best services to the guests of Allah,” Al-Samaani added.
