Saudi Arabia and the UAE reiterated on Wednesday on their role as a main alliance to remain engaged to help solve all regional issues and promote an environment of peace and stability. Saudi State Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir and United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed arrived in Islamabad, where they held talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi. The visit is part of joint Saudi and Emirati efforts to ease tensions between Pakistan and India over the crisis in Kashmir. Several Saudi and UAE officials said on Wednesday that the alliance between the two Gulf countries “represents a cornerstone to regional stability and security facing the projects of some parties to spread extremism, chaos, strife and division.” The visit also reveals the profound strategic Saudi-UAE understanding on all regional issues, which both countries seek to solve, whether in Yemen, Sudan, or the Horn of Africa, in addition to their efforts to confront the regional threats of Iran and other terrorist militias. UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash thanked the Kingdom for politically and militarily leading the Arab Coalition, which includes the UAE, and has been fighting in Yemen on behalf of the internationally recognized government since 2015. Also on Wednesday, the Emirates Center For Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) said in a report that Saudi Arabia and the UAE share a strong relation, considered one of the most important, not only between two brothers, but also at the regional and international level. The report said that the leaderships of both countries continuously work on achieving more joint efforts at the political, economic, social and cultural levels, adding that the strong Saudi-UAE relation reflects the determination of the political leadership of both countries to foster common interests. It also stressed the deep belief that challenges facing Gulf and Arab security require additional cooperation and coordination at all levels, adding that the UAE has confidence in the Kingdom’s ability to face challenges.
