Riyadh, October 17, 2020, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stressed the importance of efforts in achieving the goals of eliminating nuclear weapons, especially in the Middle East, in order to establish security and stability in any region. The editorial said that the efforts can be achieved through cooperation and consultation among countries and moving forward in achieving development and progress and avoiding the race to possess such weapon that destroys mankind. The editorial added that the position reflects a Saudi Arabia's firm policy that supports everything would achieve regional and international stability. The editorial further added that Saudi Arabia expressed in the speech delivered by its permanent representative to the United Nations, Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallami, before the First Committee of the seventy-fifth session of the UN General Assembly, its deep concern about Iran's continued failure to abide by its nuclear pledges, which the most recent was what reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the Iranian stockpile of enriched uranium now is ten times higher than the stipulated limit under an international agreement with Iran. The editorial concluded that the matter is seen as a continuation of the Iranian escalation in the series of violations that were reflected during the previous reports issued by the IAEA Director General. Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that the most severe economic effects for countries and individuals were the policies of closure and health precautions due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus, as those difficult solutions are only the quick options and ready alternatives for governments to relief the impacts of the virus. The editorial added that the decisions made by the leaders of G20 countries in their extraordinary meeting chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, have a clear impact in alleviating the impact of economic shocks. The editorial further added that more than seven trillion dollars for the global economy and government aid have been announced in the meeting , according to what the International Monetary Fund in its latest report on the Global economic outlook.
