The United Arab Emirates named one of its capital’s main streets after Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, in honor of the Saudi monarch’s achievements. This came under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Celebrating the Kingdom’s 89th National Day, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, had unveiled the plaque, marking the official inauguration of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Road. A number of key officials attended the ceremony. Commenting on the announcement, chairman of the department of urban planning and municipalities said Falah Al Ahbabi: “The decision to rename one of our most popular Abu Dhabi streets, is to honor Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King of Saudi Arabia, and to reinforce our unbreakable ties with the Kingdom and its people.” “Our strategic bilateral relationship encompasses various areas that benefit both countries, as recommended by the UAEs Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,” he added. “This inauguration reflects the UAE’s appreciation and gratitude towards King Salman in serving the Islamic world.” “The King has played a major role in strengthening the status of Saudi Arabia and the relationship between all GCC countries, while spreading the values of tolerance, thanks to his acclaimed humanitarian, Arab and Islamic views,” he stressed. King Salman Street is one of the main arteries in Abu Dhabi. The 4.6 km long street starts from King Abdullah Street all the way to the intersection of Al-Alam and Al-Kasser Streets. The street leads to the most important cultural and tourist landmarks in the UAE, including The Founders Memorial, Marina Mall and ADNOC headquarters. The street is dotted with plants and overlooks the Marina Breakwater in an area that attracts a huge number of visitors and is considered one of the most beautiful streets in the capital.
