RIYADH: The Permanent Anti-Human Trafficking Committee on Tuesday held its 13th meeting this year, headed by Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, head of the Saudi Human Rights Commission. He stressed the need for more efforts to combat human trafficking, and ordered the provision of the committee’s general secretariat with the latest relevant data in detail, so as to be able to develop reports that can be presented to international organizations. Representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, and committee members, reviewed the ministry’s plans to protect workers’ rights and improve the contractual relationship between employer and employee. Saudi Arabia is taking different measures to combat human trafficking. In July, the Kingdom signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Organization for Migration to enhance cooperation in technical issues related to human trafficking and preventing it.
