Turkish counter-terrorism forces arrested on Tuesday 10 foreigners with suspected links to ISIS in the capital, Ankara. Security sources said the elements entered the country illegally and are suspected of participating in terror activities. They did not give further information about their nationalities. Turkey witnessed a series of attacks in 2015 and 2016, the last of which was carried out on Reina nightclub in Istanbul, in which 39 people were killed and 69 others were injured, most of whom were Arabs and Foreigners. Recent reports have revealed that a border cell set up by ISIS in Adana continues to operate freely and recruits more elements as the judicial system fails to suppress it. According to reports, the cell was established in Adana, southern Turkey, and is headed by Hassan Cevce, who used to work in an internet cafe. Its main supporter and financier is Mahmut Ozden, who is also known for being one of ISIS princes in Adana along with Ali Chevron, another leading figure in the terrorist organization. The trio recruited militants and sent them to Syria to fight, and they also help ISIS militants receive treatment in Turkish hospitals. Over the past three years, more than 300 people have been killed in ISIS attacks in Turkey that have targeted civilians. Turkish security forces have been engaged in a long-running security crackdown so far to seize the groups cells and prevent new terrorist attacks. In September 2018, Turkish authorities announced the arrest of a dangerous ISIS member, identified as the “prince of Adana.” Security sources said that the Department of Public Security in Adaba was able to identify the so-called “prince” as Ayoub B. through confessions made by associates of the organization who were arrested earlier. Counter-terrorism forces in Adana carried out a special operation and arrested the ISIS leader in the garden of a private hospital, following a five-months technical and field persecution, sources said. The ISIS leader reportedly attempted to escape when he saw the security forces who arrested him after a brief hunt. The probe revealed that he was not using mobile phones and was receiving instructions from the organization in Syria through personal interviews with ISIS members.
