It aids over a million students from 15,000 schools across the country RIYADH: Tatweer Education Holding Co., the Ministry of Education’s school transport service provider, has completed preparations for transport services for schools during the first academic semester exams. About 1.2 million students will be transported to 18,000 schools via 25,000 transport vehicles serviced by 28,000 drivers, field monitors, administrators, and technicians. Preparations included bus maintenance, setting up of mobile workshops, and provisioning of alternative buses in case of emergency. Tatweer has carried out maintenance and safety checks on 6,651 buses throughout the Kingdom in the past week, while field monitors have inspected contractors’ garages as part of the company’s role to ensure safe, comfortable transport for students. The company has upgraded school transport services and added 3,000 new buses to the Kingdom’s fleet. It has also prepared training materials on enhancing security and safety measures in school transport services for field monitors, as well as organizing awareness campaigns to introduce safety and security controls for students, parents and drivers. It aids over a million students from 15,000 schools across the country, with the service’s vehicles making 50,000 trips daily. The company is also working on a number of pilot projects developing new technology for school buses. This includes a project on using satellite systems to track vehicles directly, ensuring responsible conduct by drivers.
