Dr. Saud Al-Meshari, secretary-general of the Federation of Chambers of the GCC

Dr. Saud Al-Meshari is the recently appointed secretary-general of the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council. He has also been secretary-general of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) since 2016. Over the past 17 years at the CSC, Al-Meshari has occupied the posts of assistant secretary-general for executive affairs, and assistant secretary-general for legal and administrative affairs. He is also a member of various committees in the Kingdom and in international legal associations such as the International Court of Arbitration, the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, and the Task Force Committee for Trade and Investment at the B20 business group of the G20. Moreover, he is a member of the American Society of International Law, and of the board of trustees at Saudi Aramco’s Energy Sector Training Board. He is a member of many influential boards and committees in the Kingdom, including the General Authority for Statistics, and the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. Al-Meshari holds a bachelor’s degree in law from King Saud University, and a master’s in law from American University Washington College of Law. He earned his Ph.D. in juridical science from Washington University in St. Louis, and attended the government contract management program at George Washington University. He also served as an assistant professor of law at the Institute of Public Administration in Riyadh. Furthermore, he was a legal consultant at several organizations, including the Law Firm of Salah Al-Hejailan, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and ExxonMobil.
