The Football Association are in discussions over a venue to move the Community Shield away from Wembley next year. Hosting the Uefa 2021 Women"s European Championship means the traditional curtain-raiser for that season will be on the road and likely to be away from London. It will be a rare absence from the national stadium for the showpiece since reconstruction of the arena was completed 13 years ago. Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium hosted six events while work was being carried out, then Manchester City and Chelsea played at Villa Park in 2012 when the Olympics were hosted in the capital and Wembley hosted gold-medal matches.
