The International Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (iCCUS 2020) Conference and Exhibition will kick off in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Tuesday. The event will be held under the patronage of Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Bahraini Oil Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa. It will be attended by more than 800 participants, including oil and energy ministers from across the globe. Executive managers of firms specialized in the oil sector, technicians and academics will discuss the role of capturing, utilizing and storing carbon in empowering the global carbon economy. Bahrain’s Oil Minister expressed delight at organizing iCCUS 2020 jointly with Saudi Arabia to deal with key issues of common interest related to the technology of capturing carbon dioxide emissions, reuse and recycling with a view to combating climate change and optimizing oil production that will benefit the economic system He commended the initiative which was put forward by the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) to organize this conference in its first edition, which will also highlight the most important projects and voluntary initiatives implemented by Bahrain to reduce the negative effects of climate change. Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of topics and technical issues to be discussed at the conference as they reinforce knowledge, development and exchange of information and expertise. The sidelines of the conference will witness an exhibition with the participation of a number of companies specialized in oil, gas, chemical and manufacturing industries, the energy sector, food producers, iron and cement industries, as well as services firms from across the world. The exhibition will seek to showcase recent technology and expertise related to the environment.
