RIYADH — Saudi Ambassador to South Korea Riyad Al-Mubaraki on Sunday announced the evacuation of a number of Saudi students from the South Korean city of Daegu after reporting a number of new Coronavirus cases in the city. The embassy transported the students to Seoul, capital of South Korea, after constant contact with students ever since the discovery of virus cases in the city. Al-Mubaraki said the students were transferred to a hotel near the embassy in the Korean capital, and then repatriated on board Incheon Airport in Seoul to Abu Dhabi and from there to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Speaking to Al-Arabiya net, Al-Mubaraki reassured about the health of the evacuated students, stressing that there were no symptoms of the disease among the students. A total of 95 Saudi students are pursuing graduate studies in Korea in addition to 115 scholarship students. Of these, 80 are studying at their own expense. The number of staff at the embassy and its technical offices accounts for 70 with their families, besides 232 employees and their families in the Saudi Aramco branch in Korea. The Saudi embassy in South Korea is continuously following the Coronavirus cases and assessing the situation with the concerned Korean authorities.
