Princess Haifa stresses importance of strengthening cooperation with UNESCO

PARIS – Princess Haifa Bint Abdulaziz Bin Muhammad Bin Ayyaf Aal Muqrin has stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between the Kingdom and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in all fields such that the Kingdom’s interests in the international organization are achieved. She also asserted strengthening relations with the UNESCO member countries in an endeavor to consolidate peace and coexistence between peoples and cultures, in line with the functions of UNESCO, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted her as saying at the UNESCO headquarters here. Princess Haifa also presented her credentials to UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay as Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to UNESCO here on Tuesday. During the meeting, they reviewed the distinctive relations between the Kingdom and UNESCO, amid Saudi support to the organization through its contribution to its many projects and programs via the Kingdom’s membership in the UNESCO executive council and in the World Heritage Committee. Princess Haifa has an M.Sc. in economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London. She has wide experience in social and economic fields and work in international organizations. She started her professional career in academic work in the Department of Economics at King Saud University. Then she shifted to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to work there during the period 2016-2019. She then shifted to the Ministry of Economy and Planning to work as Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development Affairs and Assistant Undersecretary for G20 Affairs. Princess Haifa holds several memberships in international, regional and local committees and councils.
