Saudi Arabia advanced to the 27th position globally in the annual World Happiness Report 2020. The jump also lands it in second place in the Arab world. The UN issued report measures the indicators of happiness in 156 countries. The Kingdom had come in 28th place in 2019 and 33rd in 2018. The report was released on World Happiness Day, which falls on March 20, and measures happiness, well-being and quality of life. In a breakdown of the Saudi cities in the index, Madinah came in 46th place, Jeddah 59, Riyadh 62 and Makkah 65. The report predicted that the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah would enter the list of the best 20 cities in the world in the future and Makkah would reach 35th place.
