ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday reported 85 new cases of coroanvius, bringing the overall number of infections in the country to 333, a Health Ministry spokesperson said in a report carried by state news agency WAM. Dr. Farida Al Hosani, director of communicable diseases at the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi and the official spokesperson for the health sector in the UAE, also said that seven more coronavirus patients have completely recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 52. Attending a virtual press briefing on the latest developments as well as precautionary measures being taken in the country with regard to coronavirus, she said that new cases were of different nationalities and among people who had come into close contact with previously announced cases, as well as those who arrived in the country from abroad. All 85 people, seven Emirati citizens, are in a stable condition and receiving the necessary medical care in state hospitals. Giving a breakup of seven new recoveries, Dr. Al Hosani said five of them are Pakistani nationals and two are Bangladeshi citizens. She underscored the importance of continuing to encourage all citizens and residents in homes except for the extreme necessity and the need to adhere to regulations and guidelines issued by the competent authorities in the country.
