Yemen’s oil ministry accused on Sunday the Iran-backed Houthi militias of attacking the Safer oil pipeline pumping station in the Sarouh region in the western Marib province, reported the Saudi Press Agency. In a statement, it slammed the “criminal sabotage” act, accusing the Houthis of seeking to deplete the state’s capabilities. The attack confirms the militias’ recklessness towards the Yemeni people’s properties and resources. The “cowardly” attack confirms the militias’ violation of vows and agreements and disregard for humanitarian and national considerations that demand that economic installations be kept out of “futile wars and hysteric acts” committed by the Houthis throughout Yemen. The ministry said that Houthis were attempting through this latest attack to prolong the destructive war against national interests. It urged all local and foreign forces to intervene immediately and put an end to such practices and ensure that the remaining vital Yemeni installations are protected. The attack on the pumping station will negatively impact strenuous efforts that have been exerted to restore foreign investment in Yemen, it lamented. It called on the Arab coalition and all concerned Yemeni parties, starting with the army and security forces, to realize the severity of this “catastrophic crime” and work on protecting all oil and gas companies and pipelines. It demanded that the United Nations and all state sponsors of the political process to assume their humanitarian, moral and historic responsibilities in Yemen and put a stop to the crimes against the country’s people, stability and economy.
