The Libyan National Army (LNA), commanded by Khalifa Haftar, accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of planning a direct air operation for the first time on Libyan soil. LNA spokesman Ahmed al-Mismari also accused Ankara of "again exploiting the humanitarian truce, which never really took off, to arm militias loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA)." Turkey has for months been amassing mercenaries and military equipment to launch an attack against the western coastal city of Tarhuna. "The Turks and Erdogan have benefited from the January 12 truce to transport weapons and attempt to attack the al-Watyah air base, but they were defeated," Mismari added. "They have therefore, moved to phase two of the plan to attack Tarhuna." He stressed that the LNA was determined to send to the United Nations Security Council evidence of the crimes the pro-GNA militias have committed in the western cities of Sabratha and Surman. On the Tripoli front, he said the military has made major tactical advances in the Ain Zara, Salaheddine and Abou Salim districts, which has "confused the Turks, terrorists and Muslim Brotherhood, forcing them to review their military plans." Furthermore, he accused Erdogan of exploiting the poor in Syria in order to recruit them to fight in Libya. "He has a secret agenda that poses a threat to the entire region and Turkish people," Mismari warned, adding that flights are transporting mercenaries to Tripoli and Misrata on a daily basis.
