RIYADH: The Saudi interior ministry has announced new curfew measures during Ramadan. People will be required to stay home for 16 hours per day, from 5 p.m. until 9 a.m. as part of efforts to combat coronavirus.  A source in the interior ministry said the restrictions apply to people who are not living in cities under a 24-hour lockdown.  Residents subjected to the 24-hour curfew will be allowed to leave their homes only for essential needs, the statement added. This includes grocery shopping and health care. The ministry also said car travel would be restricted to one person in addition to the driver in cities under a 24-hour lockdown.   Residents in areas that are subjected to full lockdown are still prevented from leaving their homes around the clock.  The curfew would go into effect at the start of Ramadan, which could fall on Thursday or later this week depending on the sighting of the new crescent moon. The ministry affirmed that these measures have been taken as part of efforts by the Kingdom to protect public health.
