DUBAI: People across the world are staying at home in a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19. We catch up with our favorite stars who answer a quickfire round of questions about their time in self-isolation. Born in North West London to Moroccan and Pakistani parents, model Mariah Idrissi has been keeping herself busy with at-home chores. She is also using her time to work on her projects. How has self-isolation been for you so far? It’s been good so far, I never realized how many things I have to get done so keeping busy at home has kept me sane. What’s the biggest challenge? Trying to not get distracted by YouTube or binge watching movies. I usually like to work at the office or in a coffee shop after I go to the gym so not having my usual routine is throwing me off a little. What is something positive that has happened due to self-isolation in your life? I’ve been reading more and having mini epiphanies! I think an overall better spiritual connection with God has developed where I’m discovering more about myself. What are you currently watching in self-isolation? Currently watching “The Mandalorian” on Disney + thanks to my new Sky box! What are you eating? Have you tried cooking anything new? I’ve been eating well and cooked a prawn Thai noodle soup bowl the other day! How are you keeping sane as you stay home? I’ve been using this time to work on all my own projects that I usually never have time to sit down and focus on. A lot of creative writing so sometimes it does get difficult because there’s only so much inspiration you can get from your living room. Waking up knowing there’s loads to do definitely keeps me sane. How are you keeping fit? I work out every other day either in my room or the garden. I just stick on some music and get motivated! How are you staying “social”? I’m on Whatsapp but I prefer to just hop on a regular phone call to people to stay in touch. Any tips for bored readers? Set goals that you want to use this time to work on and perhaps even achieve if it’s something that can be done from home. Try to see the positive in this current situation, knowing that nothing lasts forever so this could be an opportunity to plan and prepare for the outside world! In self-isolation, are you relaxed or do you feel the need to be extra productive? I’m a bit of both (balance is key). I’m enjoying sleeping in but I probably do lean more towards “I’ve got to learn something new.” Are you living in your PJs, or taking the time to get dressed up? For sure living in my PJs. I simply shower and put on a fresh pair again!
