81% expatriates in 1,552 new Saudi corona cases; 8 more die

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia reported 1,552 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 27,011 and the virus-related death toll to 184, the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday. Out of the newly detected cases, 19 percent are Saudi nationals and 81 percent are foreigners, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali as saying. Sixteen 16 percent of the new cases are female and 84 percent are male, he added. The elderly make up only 2 percent of the new cases, children make up 5 percent, and adults make up 93 percent. Eight people died in the last 24 hours, including two Saudi citizens in Dammam and Jeddah, and six non-Saudis in Makkah, Riyadh, and Madinah. They were between the ages of 32 to 84 years, Al-Abdel Ali said. Most of them suffered from chronic illnesses. Out of Sunday"s reported cases, 245 were detected in Jeddah, 221 in Makkah, 156 in Jubail, 150 in Dammam, 139 in Madinah, 111 in Basih and 109 each in Riyadh and Safwa. There were 68 in Taif, 66 in Al-Khobar, 55 in Hufof, 32 in Dhahran, 17 in Al-Majaridah, 12 in al-Zulfi and 10 each in Al-Kharj and Al-Baha. Additionlly, there were seven cases in Quryat Al-Ulya; six in Nairyah; five each in Qatif and Bisha; four in Yanbu; three each in Buraidah and Diriyah; two in Al-Mandaq; and one each in Adhum, Salwa, Al-Bukhayriyah, Al-Majma"h, Rabigh, Ar Ras and Baljurashi.
