RIYADH — Coronavirus cases in the Kingdom continue to rise with 1,645 infections reported on Monday taking the total across the country to 28,656. Seven non-Saudi residents living in Makkah and Jeddah died of the virus, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the ministry spokesman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali, as saying. Out of the newly detected cases, foreigners make up 81 percent, while Saudi citizens make up 19 percent. According to Al-Abdel Ali, females made up 13 percent of the new infections, and males made up 87 percent. The new cases were detected across the Kingdom, he added. Makkah with 287 cases topped the list, followed by 261 each in Dammam and Jeddah, 217 in Jubail, 152 in Madinah and 133 in Hufof. There were 53 infections in Baish, 26 in Al-Khobar, 14 in Taif and 13 in Safwa. Additionally, there were nine cases each in Yanbu and Qunfudah; seven in Qurayyat; six each in Al-Majaridah and Rabigh; five each in Al-Zulfi and Diriyah; four each in Al-Jafr, Dhahran, Tabuk, Ar"ar and Al-Kharj; three each in Qatif and Buraidah; and one each in 16 other cities and towns. Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries in Saudi Arabia rose to 4,476. The spokesman advised the public to adhere to preventive measures, such as social distancing and regularly washing their hands, to protect themselves against the virus.
