ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Monday reported 567 new coronavirus cases and 11 more deaths, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections on and fatalities in the country to 14,739 and 137 respectively, the country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by state news agency WAM. The ministry also said that 203 patients have completely recovered and resumed their normal life, raising the total number of the recoveries in the country to 2,966. Speaking during a daily press briefing, Dr. Amna Al Dahhak Al Shamsi, official spokesperson of the UAE Government, pointed out that new cases were detected after 18,698 new coronavirus tests were carried out by the ministry among different segments of the society. She said that 11 people who succumbed to the deadly virus were from different countries and were suffering from chronic diseases. Dr. Amna highlighted the innovative treatment for COVID-19 infection developed by the UAE. She said the treatment is subjecting to clinical trials for the first time in the UAE. She also outlined the results of a number of scientific research conducted in the country. "We have the national resources, talents, and technological infrastructure that qualify us to meet our medical needs and carry out the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister and our government in order to develop the medical sector, not only in the current situation faced by the UAE and the world, but also while at the forefront of countries prepared to address emergencies and health crises," she said.
