ABU DHABI — Restrictions on movement within Abu Dhabi, one of emirates and the capital of the United Arab Emirates, have been extended by another week, beginning on Tuesday (June 16), state news agency WAM reported. The extension of the ban that covers movements between Abu Dhabi’s regions (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafrah) as well as in and out of the emirate, was announced by the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee for the COVID-19 Pandemic, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police and Department of Health — Abu Dhabi. The ban applies to all Abu Dhabi residents, including UAE nationals. Exemptions are available by special permit for employees in vital sectors, emergency medical cases, and all goods and mail. Movement within each region is allowed in line with National Sterilization Program hours. This step aims to enhance the effectiveness of the expanded National Screening Program, which tested over 388, 000 people in the past two weeks, as part of the precautionary and preventative measures being taken to curb the spread of coronavirus and protect the health and safety of the community.
