RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance has issued a decision to allow holding lessons and lectures in mosques of the Kingdom, starting from Wednesday (June 24). The ministry added that lectures must be delivered immediately after the prayer with a maximum of 10 minutes duration, and with regard to lessons, they must be compatible with the protocol of mosques opening duration and should not exceed half an hour. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Dr. Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Aqil, affirmed that the ministry is in continuous communication with the relevant authorities due to its concern for the health and safety of citizens and residents in the light of the coronavirus pandemic. He confirmed that the decision to allow the return of lessons and lectures in mosques is conditional on the commitment to the protocols of mosques opening and closure duration. He also said that classes for memorization of the Holy Qur’an will continue remotely until further notice. Dr. Al-Aqil has called on everyone to follow protocols approved by the competent authorities to ensure the safety and health of the Mosques’ visitors.
