Editor-in-chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper dies following illness

JEDDAH — Fahd Bin Rashid Al-Abdulkarim, the editor-in-chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper, one of the leading Arabic-language dailies in Saudi Arabia, died on Friday following a period of illness. Mourning the death of Al-Abdul Karim, the director-general of Al-Yamamah Foundation) Khalid Al-Fahd Al-Oraifi said: “With Allah is the Decision, in the Past and in the Future. The beloved Fahd Bin Rashid Al-Abdul Karim, editor-in-chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper, has passed away. To God we belong and to Him is our return. This is a great loss. There is no power and no strength save in Allah.” The editor-in-chief of Okaz newspaper, Jameel Al Theyabi, said on Twitter: “May Allah Almighty have mercy on the soul of our friend and colleague, Fahd Al-Abdul Karim, the editor-in-chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper, who always had a cheerful face and a constant smile even while suffering from the pain of disease. How painful is the loss of a great man like Abu Yazid. We convey our condolences and sympathies to his family, those who loved him and the media.” Fahd Al-Karim spent over 22 years in Al-Yamamah magazine, starting as an editor, then secretary to the editor of the magazine, and then as its managing editor. In April 2014, he was assigned to supervise the magazine’s editing. He took over as editor-in-chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper in 2016.
