Saudi Cabinet welcomes Sudan peace agreement

NEOM — Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday welcomed the signing, in initials, of a peace arrangement between the Sudanese Government and the Revolutionary Front, calling the development as an important step toward achieving the aspirations of the Sudanese people and their hopes for peace, development and prosperity and enhancing Sudan"s sovereignty, national unity, and regional integrity. In a virtual session chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the Cabinet reiterated Saudi Arabia"s denunciation of the Iran-backed continuing terrorist Houthi attacks, using armed drones and ballistic missiles deliberately targeting civilians and civilian facilities in the Kingdom. Acting Minister of Media Majid Al-Qasabi, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), pointed out that the Cabinet also took note of the discovery of two new oil and gas fields in each of Al-Jouf and Northern Borders provinces. The Cabinet paid tribute to the efforts being exerted by the Ministry of Energy and Saudi Aramco in the fields of exploration and production in a way that bolsters the economic diversity of the Kingdom. At the outset, the Cabinet reviewed the latest developments related to the coronavirus pandemic. It also followed up procedures of public sector employees’ return to their workplaces in the cities and governorates of the Kingdom, stressing the importance of abiding by the precautionary measures and preventive protocols and committing to the instructions issued by the competent authorities and implementing all applicable protocols to prevent the spread of the virus. The Cabinet voiced congratulations to the students and teachers, males and females, on the advent of the new academic year, in addition to the education and training staff at various stages. It called on the educational institution to carry on with the distance learning due to the exceptional coronavirus circumstances.
