RIYADH — New coronoavirus cases in Saudi Arabia remained steady on Monday, the health ministry said. There were 607 new infections and 1,060 recoveries in the Kingdom during the past 24 hours. This raised the overall infections to 326,258, health ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying. Total recoveries reached 303,930, he said. On Sunday, the Kingdom recorded 601 new cases as against 643 reported on Saturday. Makkah with 73 cases topped the list on Monday. There were 65 new infections in Jeddah, 46 in Hufof, 42 in Riyadh, 38 in Madinah, 26 each in Al-Mobarraz and Dammam and 21 in Hail. The rest of the cases were scattered in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Abdel Ali said. Saudi Arabia confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on March 2 via a Saudi Arabian national returning from Iran. Authorities were quick to implement restrictions and preventative measures, including the suspension of domestic and international travel, the closure of businesses and eventually imposed a 24-hour curfew that has been since lifted. The Kingdom announced it will allow its citizens to exit and re-enter the Kingdom through all land, sea, and air ports after Jan. 1, 2021, given that all coronavirus-related precautionary measures are followed.
