RIYADH — Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) announced on Thursday that it has issued the fifth tender for this year to import 600,000 tons of wheat to be supplied during the period of February-March 2021. Eng. Ahmad A. Al-Fares, Governor of Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO), stated that the quantity specified in the tender is to be delivered in 10 shipments — 6 at the Jeddah Islamic Port and 4 at the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. Eng. Al-Fares said that this batch of imported wheat comes within the organization’s plan to maintain the strategic reserve of wheat and meet the local demand from the milling companies. Noting that the organization has contracted to import 2.2 million tons this year, 64,000 tons of which are produced by Saudi investments abroad, and purchased nearly 386,000 tons from the local farmers" production. — SG
