G20 Secretariat, SAOC to host NOC conference for first time

RIYADH — Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, president of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee (SAOC), will chair the "Conference of National Olympic Committees of the G20 Countries" organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in partnership between the Saudi Secretariat of the G20 and the SAOC. The conference, to be held for the first time at a summit level in the digital city in Riyadh, will be hosted under the title “The Olympic Movement During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic,” as part of the program of international conferences held on the sidelines of the Saudi Presidency of the G20 this year. The conference will discuss the most important opportunities and challenges facing the Olympic and sports sector at the global level after the global pandemic "COVID-19", in addition to shedding light on the important role that the Olympic movement plays in helping the international community to recover socially, economically and healthily from the consequences of the pandemic. The conference will see the participation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Dr. Thomas Bach as honorary chair of the conference, member of the IOC Princess Reema Bint Bandar, member of the Board of Directors of the Japanese Olympic Committee Momii Keiko, President of the Italian Olympic Committee Giovanni Malago, and Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Director General of the WHO Also attending are Robin Mitchell, president of the Association of National Olympic Committees, Witold Bańka, president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), James Macleod, director of Olympic Solidarity and NOC Relations, Othman Al-Muammar, xhairman of Y20 Youth Engagement Group, and Eng. Hussam Al-Qurashi, vice president of U20 Urban Community Engagement Group. The SAOC had invited all the National Olympic Committees of the G20 countries, in addition to the National Olympic Committees of the countries that were invited to attend the G20 summit: UAE, Jordan, Spain, Rwanda, Singapore, Switzerland, Vietnam, the World Health Organization, international federations, and continental Olympic committees. — SG
