Saudi Arabia was named the sixth safest world destination amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Kingdom was the only country in the Middle East on the list that was compiled by Wego Travel blog in an article on “Safe Places to Travel During the COVID-19 Pandemic.” Countries were chosen according to a European Union methodology for its travel risk assessment. The classification methodology was based on the country’s ability to contain the pandemic, achieve stability for a long period of time, efficiency of its health system and ability to expand virus testing and isolate cases. The ranking again underscores Saudi Arabia’s global standing and reflects the major preemptive measures that its leadership implemented to combat the pandemic. The Wego bloc highlighted the Kingdom’s ability in containing the pandemic and achieving stability for a long period of time, reflecting its massive abilities, human potential and technical and medical resources. Saudi Arabia has witnessed a remarkable drop in new coronavirus infections, underlining again the preemptive measures it has taken. The Kingdom has been reporting the lowest daily rate of new cases in eight months. On Saturday, the Health Ministry said it registered 220 new infections, taking the tally to 356,911. It confirmed 401 recoveries, raising the total to 346,023 and 13 more fatalities. The death toll now stands at 5,870.
