RIYADH: An attempt to smuggle more than 20 million amphetamine pills inside a grapefruit shipment has been foiled, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday. The spokesman for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, Capt. Mohammed bin Khaled Al-Najidi, said security officials monitoring activities of criminal networks have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 20,190,500 pills through the Jeddah Islamic Port, in coordination with the General Customs Authority. He said eight people had been arrested, including two Saudi citizens and six residents, and that legal measures had been taken against them.
