RIYADH — Members of the World Bank Group’s executive board have unanimously selected the executive director representing Saudi Arabia, Abdulmuhsen Al-Khalaf, as the chair of the audit committee. The committee includes members, who also serve as the executive directors, from the United States, France, Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Poland. This decision reflects the remarkable status that Saudi Arabia holds globally and the international trust in the executive director representing the Kingdom to assume the duties of this committee, which performs a vital role for the World Bank Group. The audit committee aims to support the executive board in overseeing the World Bank Group finances, accounting, risk management, controls, and institutional integrity. Al-Khalaf has been an official of the group’s executive board since August 2018. He has also worked as an economist in the Saudi Ministry of Finance, where he managed several economic and financial policy issues. Al-Khalaf represented Saudi Arabia in the G20 Development Working Group. — SG
