Ramallah, Dhu-AlQa'dah 7, 1436, Aug 22, 2015, SPA -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday stepped down as head of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), according to Palestinian media, dpa reported. Abbas remains president of the Palestinian Authority. According to reports the move will allow for a new committee to be in place when the Palestinian National Council convenes in the coming month.
