COVID-19 cases in KSA cross 300-mark again as deaths drop, recoveries surge

RIYADH — Coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia crossed the 300-mark for the second consecutive day on Wednesday after more than two months as the health ministry recorded 306 new infections over the past 24 hours. The virus-related deaths, however, remained low despite a slight increase in the new cases with just 3 reported on Wednesday, according to the ministry"s statement. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 368,945 and fatalities to 6,386 respectively. The ministry also reported 290 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 360,400. The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of infections with 124 cases, surpassing the 100-mark for the second day in a row. The Eastern region reported 58 and the Makkah region saw 52 new infections. The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom. With the slight increase in the number of new cases, the active cases in Saudi Arabia rose to 2,159 out of which 379 were critical.
