The Board of Directors of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM), headed by Acting Minister of Media Majed Al-Qasabi, decided to assign Esra Mansour Assery as the commission’s CEO. The decision was taken during a recent meeting of the board. This comes within the measures being taken to develop Saudi media organizations in line with the directives of the minister. Assery served as head of the commission’s Executive Committee. During her tenure, Assery was able to do outstanding professional work, and reorganized the commission’s various sectors and activities, as well as contributed to preparing future plans and directions, in addition to her management of the minister’s executive office, supervising its establishment and management ever since its creation. Assery, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in information systems management, a Master’s degree in business administration and an Executive Leadership Fellowship from McCain Institute, has nearly 18 years of experience in the fields of information technology and entrepreneurship. She previously worked in several positions in various entities. These include leadership positions in the Saudi Broadcasting Authority and the Industrial Development Fund. She also worked at the Wonder Women Tech (WWT) organization and the McCain Institute in the United States, and established a number of companies, the most important of which is iTree Digital Solutions, one of the companies sponsored by Endeavor International in the Kingdom. Assery also represented the Kingdom in a number of committees, including the G20 Entrepreneur Alliance for four sessions, and she is a founding member of the Saudi Professional Network.
