RIYADH — Veteran Saudi media person Mohammed Al-Wael died at the age of 74 on Sunday. During his journalistic career spanning over 50 years, he had served with several Saudi Arabic newspapers. Al-Wael started his career with Riyadh newspaper. Later he worked with Okaz and Al-Jazirah newspapers. He had served as the editor-in-chief of Al-Yaum newspaper for 14 years as well as of Al-Masaeya newspaper. The deceased is considered as one of the eminent media icons in the Kingdom with a brilliant track record as a writer, critic and columnist who was well known for his candid opinions and firm positions. He also authored several books, the last of which was “the Witnesses of this Age.” His book titled “25 o"clock” is a comprehensive account of his journalistic career. Wael held memberships in many media and literary forums and organizations.
