JEDDAH: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Jeddah has launched the activities of Environment Week. The activities week is titled “the environment for us and for our future generations.” The ministry will aim to plant more than 1,000 trees on the King Abdul Aziz University (KAU) campus in collaboration with KAU activists interested in volunteer work. Adel Al-Sheikh, director of the ministry’s Jeddah office, stressed the importance of increasing the green space due to its aesthetic, environmental, health, and social benefits, especially that trees contribute to alleviating the severity of climate change. Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed Al-Rajai, director general of the office of the ministry in Qassim also launched activities. Al-Rajai said the Kingdom’s leadership wishes to elevate awareness of preserving the environment in the Kingdom through regulations that aim to reach a prosperous and sustainable environment. The ministry’s Qassim branch will set up guidance platforms in malls to distribute brochures on the environment and inspection points to promote awareness.
